There have been many films in the horror genre over the years that deal with demonic possession and how the characters came be to possessed (The Exorcist, The Exorcism of Emily Rose), but never the aftermath of the ordeal, or how the victim's life and the lives of those around them are affected. With Ava's Possessions, screenwriter and director Jordan Galland tries to show how a character must answer for her actions in the aftermath of her possession. This dark comedy works the same techniques as most exorcism movies, but subverts the genre by adding humour and answering the unexplainable.

Quebec's slow implementation of a bill intended to work in favor of transgender people is leaving the community in limbo. 
 
In a report by CBC News, Bill 35 is supposed to allow transgender-identified people to legally change their gender marker on official documents without going through reassignment surgery. 

However, due to a delay with the legislation review at the National Assembly, Transgender advocate Caroline Trottier-Gascon says that the longer the wait, the more difficult the obstacles transgender Quebeckers will have to face, most notably with discrimination and transphobia.

A campaign to strengthen the provinces anti-smoking regulations is underway. 

According to CBC News, a group representing 174 municipalities across Quebec -including Montreal- passed a resolution on Sunday, urging the province to push the regulations on public smoking even further.

Concordia and Mcgill are set to be the first university campuses to house the Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy group, which lobbies for reforms at the federal, provincial and municipal levels.

In a report by the Montreal gazette, the group advocates for dealing with drug usage as a health issue rather than criminally.

The group is also supporting the legalization of marijuana, fighting against minimum sentences for drug related offences, and advocating for safe needle exchanges.

The group says they want to promote safety over everything.

Residents in the South Shore town of St-Remi may have to wait until December before they can use their tap water again. 

In a report by CBC News, a boil-water advisory has been place for six months after fecal bacteria was discovered inside a newly dug well.

The 37th annual festival du Cochon Sainte-Perpétue is set to kick off Wednesday, despite the resentment of international and local animal rights activists groups.

According to a report by the Montreal Gazette, the SPCA Is voicing their concern for the second year in a row. 

The waiting list for children who need surgery is increasing.

Sadly when the time came to catch the premiere of Ant-Man at Fantasia, I had to miss out because of work. Thursday night was the official film premiere and the theatre was packed for the first showing, that was presented in a 3D Dolby Atmos theatre. The crowd was gleamed with excitement as they traded Marvel factoids that made me wish I brought the Marvel Encyclopedia from my coffee table. Everyone including myself is asking the question will the comedic actor of the Judd Apatow franchise of films pull it off. All eyes were on Paul Rudd to make everyone forget Seth Rogen started in The Green Hornet.
