Engone Endong on Champions of the Local Scene: 5pm

Tonight at 5pm on a special edition of Champions of the Local Scene, we are pleased to have an interview with producer-beatmaker-scientist of sound Engone Endong! June 18th will mark the release of Engone Endong's new album #OKENG, which will be the first release on new Montreal label Unlog (listen to Unlog's label profile from Champs last week!)


Towanda on Fear of Music: Tues @ 4pm

Montreal-based rock 'n' roll femme power trio Towanda came by CJLO's Oven Studio recently to record a session (one that we could hear clear across the courtyard!) We are excited to debut this session on Fear of Music tomorrow (Tuesdays @ 4pm) and to have Towanda back in the studio for an interview!


Champions of the Local Scene talks to Unlog: Montreal's newest beat-making label- Wed @ 6pm

Wednesday at 6pm, Champions of the Local Scene will open its door for Montreal's newest hip hop centric, beat-making label: Unlog. With it’s latest compilation Unlog Complex volume 6 on the virtual racks, also known as Bandcamp, we take time to discover the people behind the label as well as their tightly knitted music.


The Commonwealth Conundrum Live From Fringe Park: Wed 4 - 6pm

The 3rd annual edition of The Commonwealth Conundrum Show Live at the Montreal Fringe Festival will be direct from the Fringe Park/ Beer Tent (Parc des Ameriques) today (Wednesday) at 4pm! Host Rebecca Munroe (AKA CJLO's very own Fringe Queen) will be speaking with some of the awesome Fringe talent performing this year at the 25th anniversary edition of her favourite festival!!

The Chainsaw Hookers, Australia's finest purveyors of splattery, relentless, in your face punk rock'n'roll, are back with their rip roarin' new record We Want Your Blood, and they've been nice enough to hook BVST up with some giveaway copies! APigeon is a Montreal based electronic producer, composer and vocalist who is becoming known for both the melodic and poetic sensibilities of her music. You can catch APigeon June 6 at Divan Orange as part of Indie Montreal's Fringe Music Series in the Montreal Fringe Festival.

Beat the World talks Black Fashion Week Montreal with fashion designer Adama Paris- today at 1:15pm!

Today on a special Beat The World, Senegalese designer Adama Paris will come by to talk Black Fashion Week Montreal. Black Fashion Week Montreal is happening May 28th to May 30th at Saint Jean Baptiste church, where designers from around the world will convene with their collections presented to the musical talents of Dj Kondo (Montreal), Dr. Mad (Montreal) and DJ Double D (Toronto).

Named after a volunteer who sadly left the station to pursue their dreams (we miss you, Diego Ferro!), the CJLO Diegos is an annual awards ceremony created to celebrate a year of hard work and quality programming that our amazing DJs and Volunteers put into CJLO day after day. So let's celebrate their dedication and tireless effort to making CJLO 1690 AM a quality radio station, and also celebrate independent media and community radio at large.
