Friday: The Commonwealth Conundrum interviews Public Service Broadcasting

On Friday 3rd April, 5pm, The Commonwealth Conundrum Show will be interviewing one of their favourite new British bands, Public Service Broadcasting. PSB's uniquely spell-binding live AV Transmissions see them weave samples from old public information films, archive footage and propaganda material around live drums, guitar, banjo and electronics as they teach the lessons of the past through the music of the future beaming our past back at us through vintage TV sets and state of the art modern video projection devices.


Fatal Attraction: Today @ 4pm- Interview w/ band: V for Escargot

This week on Fatal Attraction, Patricia will be interviewing indie rock band "V For Escargot".

The band features Philippe Petit providing lead vocals and playing rhythm guitar, Daniel Desjardins on guitar, Guillaume Fecteau playing drums and keyboards, Mathieu Leduc-Bouchard on bass and the lovely Raya Star's singing.

Their next show will be on April 11th at L'Escogriffe Bar Spectacle, and they will be performing with the Reverie Band!


Filmmaker Ara Ball on Champions of the Local Scene: 6pm tonight

Tonight on Champions of the Local scene: local filmmaker Ara Ball will be talking with Host of 'Psychic City' Abby about his latest film Le Pedophile which premiered at this year's SXSW!


Tomorrow at 9 am: Festival International du Film sur L'Art founder René Rozon interview on At The Movies Extra! Plus- FIFA Contest!

Tomorrow at 9 am on a special edition of At The Movies Extra with Iconic Sounds- the team will interview Mr. René Rozon, founder of Festival International du Film sur l'Art. They will discuss the history of ART-FIFA, what is special about this year's edition, and make some festival picks. They will also discuss the festival's residency at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and play some samples of the soundtracks that are in store for festival goers. CJLO is pleased to collaborate with FIFA on a contest to win tickets.

The Breakfast Club was released 30 years ago this year! Tune into a special episode of At The Movies with Iconic Sounds, this Tuesday at 8-9 am to hear the classic's review from our team's point of view. Does this film hold up 30 years later? Do the character archetypes of a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal translate for teenagers today? Tune in to find out!

Hip Hop Week Montreal on Champions of the Local Scene: #LECYPHER & No Bad Sound Studio w/ KTStress LIVE: 6pm Wed!

We are excited to have a special Hip Hop Week MTL edition of Champions of the Local Scene: Wed March 18, hosted by Sugarface Nene! We will be talking about the highlights of this week-long festival (March 15-21); which include workshops, discussion panels, and performances (+lectures) by headliners Jean Grae and Rakim as well as a prolific line-up of local Montreal artists. We will be talking live with the crew behind the monthly #LECYPHER: Live Hip Hop & Soul Jam at Le Bleury Bar.


Scott McCaughey Interview Friday on CJLO

Scott McCaughey's The Minus 5 initially started out as a side project, acting as an outlet for songs he wrote while in the Young Fresh Fellows, but that didn't quite fit the sound of his principal band. Formed in 1993, with the notion that every album released would feature a different cast of musicians, McCaughey assembled Peter Buck of R.E.M., and Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow from The Posies to record 1995's debut album Old Liquidator.


Best of the West talks "Breaking Up Broken Down" with JP Maurice

A special edition of Best of the West (March 11 @ 9am) will feature an interview with Victoria based musician JP Maurice. JP was recently involved in a mockumentary shoot for a project called Breaking Up Broken Down about three musicians who go on tour in Europe and basically break up over the course of the series (four episodes). JP did the music for the series, which was filmed across his first tour of Europe.

Abby will be chatting with Paul Mckenzie from The Real Mckenzies about 23 years of being Canada's premiere Celtic Punk band, and their influence on carving out the genre! The Real Mckenzies' new album Rats in the Burlap is out on March 24th in Canada on Stomp Records and April 7th on Fat Wreck Chords for the rest of the world!

At The Movies (With Iconic Sounds) is holding, for the second year, The prestigious Golden Ticket Awards! The nominations were announced on February 4th 2014, and listeners have until the first Monday, March 2nd 2015 to vote here . There will also be DVDS and movie passes to give away on air during the month of February. Also, on February 24th there will be a completion of reviews that are based around the Golden Ticket Nominees. Weigh in and tune in- every Tuesday at 8 am!
