Coming up today on Dirty Work, we will chat with L.A Foster at 5pm! L.A. Foster will launch her debut EP "SAUDADE" this Saturday at The Emerald / bar sans nom (5295 Parc)- with special friends John Shape (Beaver Sheppard), dancer Sabine Lawless, and Toronto's Scott Hardware (fka KEN PARK). This show is an L.A. Foster / Beaver Sheppard/ Pop Montreal co-presentation! Marshia Celina is a performing artist & writer. Her latest project Reality Rap: The Digital Tape explores our inner struggles with capitalism, race, gender, and our complicated relationships with rap through a sonic catalogue reminiscent of the nineties.  It's not just her content that is intriguing, but her flow & style is consistent and clear throughout her work. It pays homage to classic hip hop sounds that influenced her early years. Mars proves in her work that we can be critical without criticizing and that we all have some self work to do.

Have you ever wondered what the music of Japan sounds like? Well wait no further.

Since 2013, Shibuya Crossing has been taking you on an adventure into the world of Japanese music and fringe arts - from the heart of the underground, into the online universe, and reaching out into the global fan community.

As it officially returns for a third consecutive season on Concordia's own, and Montreal's underground radio, your weekly journey is packed with goodies - from personal mix tapes, audio diaries, surreal soundscapes, artist profiles, and even a crash course on basic Japanese for the studious folks out there.


Tonight on Champions of the Local Scene: CJAM's Musician's Legal Bootcamp: 6pm

CJLO is pleased to co-present CJAM's Musician's Legal Bootcamp, this Saturday, November 14, noon to 3pm in the Shatner Ballroom on the McGill campus (3480 McTavish). The Montreal Artists' Legal Clinic offers this event for free and will address the copyright and corporate law questions that musicians ask everyday.

A lot of the CJLO gang was in NYC, and our Volunteer Co-ordinator Christina won a contest for campus radio peeps with a an amazing prize: a trip to Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavík, courtesy of Icelandair and Marauder Group!

CJLO is excited to bring you some audio treats (and tricks?) for Halloween; co-presenting Arbutus Records' Halloween Party with Blue Skies Turn Black! This all goes down on All Hallow's Eve itself, Saturday October 31st at 9pm (Doors at 8pm) at Theatre Fairmount (5240 Parc) and will feature TOPS, Puro Instinct, Mozart's Sister, and a Blue Hawaii DJ Set!

Eternal Husbands interview/ contest: Wed, Oct 28 on Psychic City: 11am

Eternal Husbands are Rick Reid/Matt Leddy, both formerly of power-poppers The City Streets. CJLO successfully put the FUN in FUNdraising this Fall- with the generous support of our community, campus and fabulous sponsors! We are still processing donations, but are happy to report that we have surpassed our goal and have raised $8500 for the station AND counting (it's not too late to donate if you haven't already!)! We couldn't have done this without all of our hard working volunteers and wonderful collaborators- Thanks to everyone that helped us with what was a monumental undertaking for the little station that could!
