CJLO Goes Metal for Metal March

The first ever Metal March is upon us, and that can mean only one thing... once again, some of CJLO's staple shows have thrown their previous format right out the window and embraced their darkest side. As part of their rebrand and relaunch, these shows have unveiled brand new logos that embody their new sounds.

Metal Monday - Top 10 Albums of 2016 So Far

DJ Philliam from Turn On The Darkness (Tuesdays 2 PM) narrows down his picks for the top 10 albums of 2016 (so far!) for this edition of Metal Monday.

10. Varg - Das Ende aller Lügen. Was not really expecting this at all. This album blew me away, knowing that this blends elements of modern metal/Viking death metal and Metalcore? Yeah you heard me right! Lots of catchy and head bangin' tunes in this album. It's definitely worth a listen.

COUNTDOWN AT THE MOVIES 2015

Before we start this countdown, let's state the obvious: there are some great films released this year that I haven't gotten around to seeing yet. Also, this list is ever-changing, so as 2015 becomes 2016 you can check back as we update it via Letterboxd. A big thank you to guest contributor and movie aficionado Sean S.

TV Binge 2015!

Many people know me as the movie guy, and for sure my list of the Top 10 Movies of 2015 is on way, but let me start out by reflecting on the best in television this year. Here are seven shows that I have been binge-watching, and a bonus video game!

A look back at Iceland Airwaves 2015

Reykjavik, Iceland - November 4-8, 2015

Participating in Iceland Airwaves as a Canadian is sort of like stumbling into a house party full of someone else's tight social circle—except everyone is excited and glad you came and there are one thousand other people who accidentally stumbled into the party too and now you're all friends. It is the kind of festival were almost every shop, café and hostel along the main downtown strip doubles as a venue throughout the week creating space for the "off-venue" no wrist-band-required shows—hugely accessible to people officially participating in the festival as well as people who do not purchase passes.

A Chat with Joey King

The World Film Festival is a Montreal festival that ran from August 27th till September 7th this year. On Saturday September 5th, Borealis, a dark comedy, premiered from director Sean Garrity and screenwriter Jonas Chernick. I had the privilege to interview Joey King, who plays Aurora in the film, and we discussed everything from her role in the film, to working with the independent minds of Zach Braff and James Franco. Joey also took the time to talk about some of her favorite iconic sounds from cinema.
