What's Up With the Habs?

April 3rd seems like it was yesterday. On this day, I was sitting fifth row at the BB&T center in Sunrise Florida. The Montréal Canadiens won the game 4-1 and they looked big, strong, and very fast disposing of the Florida Panthers. Maybe because I was in a condo next to the beach, but I did not even watch the remaining five games of the season because I thought to myself, win or lose, we are facing the New York Rangers in the first round and most likely beat them too… in five games!

An Interview With Hotkid's Shiloh Harrison

Toronto-based band Hotkid is only days away of their show this Saturday, at l'Espace des Mêmes, alongside Walrus and Miesha & The Spanks, presented by Analogue Addiction and yours truly, CJLO. We at the station had the chance to catch vocalist and lead guitarist Shiloh Harrison and ask her a few questions on Saturday's show, the band's upcoming album, Late Night Mornings, coming out May 5th, and more.

Your new LP, Late Night Mornings, is soon hitting the shelves. What can you tell us about it?

REVIEW & INTERVIEW - The Source by Ayreon

After long-awaited anticipation for the new Ayreon record The Source, I am happy to say that this new album brings in a lot to the table from previous Ayreon records and blends them all together.

Shifting from The Gentle Storm, the man behind Ayreon, Arjen Anthony Lucassen took a different approach with this record, going more sci-fi than romantic in genre. He knew that he had to make another exciting adventure.

One Calm Saturday Night in Montreal at Casa Del Popolo - Little Suns, April 8th, 2017

It was a Saturday night in April, and I was getting ready to go out a little later than expected. But despite my overwhelming laziness, I put on my ripped black jeans and a cute striped t-shirt. I had my little bag and my little notepad and was ready to hear some new music for a change. With a 20-minute walk under my feet, I made it to Casa del Popolo and was feeling more exhausted than before. Nevertheless, I made my way through the restaurant and to the back doors where the night’s entertainment was playing.

Interview: Briga on "Femme," Cultural Appropriation, and More

This past Wednesday, April 5th, Le Divan Orange hosted the launch of Femme, the fourth album by musician Brigitte Dajczer, better known as Briga. For the time of a night, the small Plateau venue was taken on a travel around the world, from the streets of Istanbul to the vast lands of Europe's Eastern countries. Matthew Good Band @ Corona Theatre, March 18th 2017

The 1990s and early 2000s were a heady time for us all. It was the last time where radio ruled supreme, and as such, a band was made or broken whether they could get a coveted rotation slot on stations. This also was an interesting time for bands in North America, as what became popular in Canada due to Canadian Content requirements and what the United States pushed could sometimes make for a situation where an immensely popular band in Canada was scarcely heard of in the US. Case in point: Matthew Good Band, a group of British Columbians whose albums netted them 14 Juno nominations which include two wins for "Best Group" and "Best Rock Album" for Beautiful Midnight in 2000.
