Two nurses suspended

100301-F-2616H-009The death of a patient has resulted in the suspension of two nurses.

The Montreal Gazette reports that the nurses were suspended for two and four weeks by the Quebec Order of Nurses.

The suspensions stem from an incident in August 2008. Christine Sasseville died of a major brain hemorrhage shortly after she gave birth to her third child at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital.


FECQ & FEUQ proposal doesn't wow Beauchamp

Tuition Hike Protest-0403The FECQ and FEUQ made their first counter-proposal, but it failed to impress.

According to CTV News, Education Minister Line Beauchamp called the proposal “disappointing”. She said in a press conference that the groups’ position had not changed and will not change its stance on tuition hikes.

Possible defence missiles on rooftops during London Games

The Globe and Mail reported on Sunday, that surface-to-air missiles could be positioned on the rooftops of apartment buildings in East London located just 3 kilometres from London's Olympic Stadium.


Student groups reject tuition offer

Quebec’s most militant student group voted at a weekend meeting in Quebec city.

CLASSE’s spokeswoman Jeanne Reynolds said the proposal did not really respond to their demands.

According to CBC News this was the Rangers first game seven victory in New York since winning the Stanley Cup in 1994.

Critics urge Montreal bars to keep minors off terraces

Café NRCA clause in Bill 68 is drawing plenty of public criticism.

In a report by the Montreal Gazette on Wednesday, the clause in question allows the presence of minors on bar terraces while being accompanied by an adult until 11pm. They would not be served alcohol though.

the current law allows minors with an adult on bar terraces until 8pm.

Bev Oda uses taxpayer dollars for her stay at the luxurious Savoy Hotel

The Savoy HotelCanadian tax dollars were used to pay International Cooperation Minister Bev Oda’s stay at the luxurious Savoy Hotel in London, England.

Oda issued an apology last Tuesday in the House of Commons for her behavior.

She was originally planned to stay at a different hotel where she attended a conference.
