Nashville's Blacklist Royals stopped by CJLO's studios on the evening of their Saturday night show in Montreal, sent our way courtesy of publicist extraordinaire, the lovely Melanie Kaye.  Opting to do something a little special and stripped down for the Hooked on Sonics show, the band lugged up an amp and a Les Paul and did it "Billy Bragg-style with frontman Nat playing most of the songs solo, or with some background vocals from the rest of the guys

"The first hour of Monday's Haze World will feature a mixtape by Grimes, (née claire boucher) whose second album halfaxa is out now on Montreal label Arbutus. When I wrote about it in August, I described it as "a cavernous landscape of bassy 4ad surrealism and industrial pitchbent r&b", and that's pretty much how the mix sounds - if you added all of the tracks together you might approximate the album's tone, riled-up and half-asleep with nowhere to go.

Dandy Warhols @ Le National

It hadn’t been that long since the Dandy Warhols came to visit us here in Montreal, but judging by the size of the crowd at le National the other night, their fans seem to never get enough of this West Coast band.

Entering the charming National theatre, you immediately felt a surreal emotion looking at the stage. This was due in part to the giant Chinese round paper lanterns that hovered above the stage and little did we know at this early time, how they would compliment the band in fantastical fashion.
