M for Montreal: Closing Event

It was a great week for the 6th edition of M For Montreal. This 4-day music extravaganza/fest/industry showcase that presents some of Montreal’s hip new talent did not disappoint with bands like Parlovr, Trigger Effect and Hollerado.

Thrust N Thrive Live @ CJLO

August 21st , 2011, Thrust N’ Thrive enthusiastically showed up to CJLO for a lovely night of metal and for a session on my show Break It Down. This is the second time that Thrust N’ Thrive has been on my radio show (they had been on my show a few months earlier for an interview). In order for Thrust N’ Thrive to properly document the night for their fans, they brought their own cameraman and lights. This made the load in and out a little difficult but brought a unique energy to their live session.

The Slackers (20th Anniversary) @ Cabaret du Mile End

I must admit, I’ve never attended a concert on a high holiday before. However, how could any music lover turn down seeing The Slackers perform live, even if the show coincided with one of the most festive weekends of the year: Halloween?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

On November 29th, 30th and December 1st, 2011,

Thank you to all of the students who voted! CJLO had an unofficial 57% of the votes in favour of increasing our fee levy. Your support means a lot to us.

Also, a huge thank you to all of our volunteers who helped us with this campagin, we couldn't have done it without you.

The Sounds @ Club Soda

First of all, let me start off by saying that The Sounds are one of my favorite bands and after I saw this show, they're also in my list of top 5 live performances. This Swedish band really rocked it. I had never been to Club Soda for a show before, but I knew they had balconies and I knew that is where I wanted to write my piece. It was the perfect vantage point.

Amos Lee @ Metropolis

Walking down Sainte-Catherine towards Metropolis on a Tuesday evening in unpleasant weather doesn’t do much to psych someone up for a concert. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the venue to see a bustle of people eager to see Amos Lee. Not knowing much about Amos Lee, I was still a little skeptical and hadn't fully made my mind up yet about his music.
