Before the Grand Prix races, the Concertation des luttes contre l’exploitation sexuelle (La CLES), a feminist community organization, launched its “Un Trop Grand Prix” sexual exploitation awareness campaign. This campaign is in its 12th year.

On Saturday April 12, over 30,000 people from across Canada rallied in front of Ottawa's Parliament Hill, to demand an arms embargo on Israel and an end to Canada's complicity in the genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. 

Protesters marched through downtown Ottawa and made it back to Parliament Hill, where they dispersed.

Hundreds of students gathered in front of Dawson College to protest against the Quebec minister of higher education’s investigation into course content about Palestine at the province’s CEGEPs.

Last month, minister Déry admitted to intervening in the content of a French-language course about Palestinian culture at Dawson.

Students called for an end to the investigation and Déry's resignation. Riot cops surrounded protestors throughout the entire march. Protest ended near McGill without any arrests.

The Concordia Research and Education Workers Union (CREW), is on strike.

On Wednesday March 12 the union began an indefinite strike action as part of their bargaining with the university. CREW represents over 2,000 TAs and RAs at Concordia. With the union affiliating just two years ago, this is CREW’s first strike.

The union wants higher wages competitive with TA wages at other schools, as well as stronger job security and an indexation system guaranteeing more consistent hours.

Concordia says they will continue to meet at the bargaining table in good faith.

As of March 10th, 2025, Concordia Research and Education Workers Union (CREW Union)m have announced that their membership will be on strike on March 12th in pursuit of their first collective agreement with the university. This episode an exploration of the union's origins and it's ongoing fight for better working conditions for teaching and research assistants at Concordia.

As the lights dimmed and the audience (mostly) hushed, Nosferatu opens with a blank screen and a quiet lullaby followed by heart-wrenching tears. Immediately, we are thrown into the familiar yet unfamiliar as we witness Ellen (Lily-Rose Depp) make her first contact with Count Orlock (Bill Skarsgård).

ConUHacks held its ninth edition of its annual hackathon on February 1st and 2nd. The 24-hour coding competition is put together every year by HackConcordia, Concordia University's hackathon society and student-run group and it is open to anyone older than 18.  Teams of participants have 24 hours from 11 am Saturday to 11 am Sunday to submit their project. There are also general challenges offered by ConUHacks and sponsor challenges that make teams create a more targeted project

But ConUHacks is not just a hackathon.

“We have also the career fair,” says Sabine Hleiss co-president of HackConcordia. “We give the participants the chance to network with the sponsors we have. We also have workshops.”

On Wednesday January 29, Concordia’s Student Union hosted a special general meeting, where 885 undergraduate Concordia students voted in favor of two motions regarding the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.  

Now that the students have voiced their demands, the board of governors will meet on Thursday February 6 to discuss how they will respond.

On September 9th, 2002, Israeli Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu was scheduled to speak at Concordia's Hall building. The speech never happened. Protestors turned out in waves to block the event's attendees. Classes were cancelled, police pepper sprayed students, and 5 were arrested. It's now known as the Netanyahu "riot."
