The Canadian Supreme Court will make its ruling on the country’s sex-trade Friday.

According to CTV, this comes 34 years after the courts have last upheld Canada’s anti-prostitution laws.

Last March however, Ontario ruled against an anti-brothel law, saying that forcing sex workers onto the streets was dangerous.

The decision also modified the law against living on the benefits of the trade to prevent exploitation and upheld the ban on soliciting for the purposes of prostitution.

The first two parts of the decision were appealed by both the federal and Ontario governments.

There will soon be help for new First Nations mothers.

CBC News reports that much needed aid will be provided to new mothers and their babies from Confederation College and Sioux Lookout hospital to assist with the birthing procedure and aftermath.

Heavy snowfall over the weekend into Sunday night means driving on Quebec roads will be difficult until snow clearing operations are completed.

According to CTV, about 35 centimetres of snow have fallen on Montreal since the pre-official-winter snowstorm began Saturday.

And while there have been accidents and closures, the Sûreté du Québec and Transport Quebec have reported no fatalities.

Transport Quebec spokesperson Denis Arsenault advised drivers to delay their trips until Monday if possible to avoid possible accidents.

The city of Montreal is about to lose around 500 beds from its public-sector nursing homes.

According to the Gazette, Montreal and Quebec city have an excess amount of nursing home beds compared to the rest of the province.

Quebec Health Minister Réjean Hébert said that Montreal currently has 4.2 long-term beds per 100 elderly people. Roughly 2.2 beds more than elsewhere in Quebec.

The majority of the bed cuts will be in nursing homes with four or more people per room, whittling them down to double or single occupancy rooms.
