Naturally 7 @ Corona Theatre

Heard of a cappella vocal music? All the vocal nerds that just chirruped kindly ignore this bit. To the rest, allow me to educate you. “A cappella” means vocal music without instruments. While originally a classical term, it's commonly found in styles like doo wop, barbershop and, more recently, pop covers ('Glee' and 'The Sing-Off' both feature a cappella music).

Lachlan Fletcher

When Lachlan Fletcher came to CJLO he had a vision for his – then desert rock themed – show The Subplot; have a theme and make it fun. He did just that and went on to become a dedicated volunteer at the station. When he wasn’t hosting his show, he would be recording a band and when he wasn’t doing that, he could be heard reading the news. In 2009, Lachlan was nominated for CJLO Diego Award for Best Radio Voice and won the award for Best New Show.

Classified + Kidz In The Hall @ Club Soda

So, on a beautiful Saturday, there I was at another great concert (one of many that weekend in Montreal). The first act had just finished playing to an almost full Club Soda when I got there. For it to be full at that point - before the main act - was great to see. Whatever the reason, we were all there to see Juno-nominated rap-producer Classified.

Comeback Kid + Title Fight @ Foufounes Electriques

To put things into perspective, this was my first time seeing Comeback Kid. Every time they come to town, I'm always kinda interested, but never enough to make seeing them a priority. Finally, everything came together, the stars aligned, and I got my name on the list! On to the show!

Collie Buddz + New Kingston + Los Rakas @ Club Soda

Finally the Buddz come around! Collie Buddz (born Colin Harper), dancehall/ reggae artist, paid Montrealers a visit on Wednesday, April 6th at Club Soda as part of his Playback Tour.

PS I Love You talk about Perfect Strangers, Gene Simmons & Other Things

After releasing their critically acclaimed (and much buzzed about) debut full lengthMeet Me at the Muster Station on one of our favourite labels around CJLO, Paper Bag Records, Kingston noise-pop duo PS I Love You dropped by the CJLO studios to record a session and interview.

Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears @ La Sala Rossa

Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears recently made their fourth visit to Montreal in only three years; that's an impressive amount of shows for any out-of-town band, but for a seven-piece band from Austin, Texas it is almost unheard of. It is also proof that they are willing to do whatever it takes to win over this city despite the complete lack of commercial radio support.

The Raveonettes + Tamaryn @ La Tulipe

Last Friday night saw The Raveonettes return to the stage at La Tulipe, celebrating the release of their new album Raven in the Grave. Tamaryn opened with dripping, reverb-infused goth tunes, playing to a mighty crowd of twenty-something music nerds. By the time The Raveonettes took to the stage, the audience was ripe with anticipation.
