YEAR IN REVIEW 2011: Norway Massacre

Anders Behring BreivikOn July 22nd Anders Breivik bombed Norway’s capital and gunned down young students at a youth summer camp.


The camp was a retreat for the ruling Labour Party. 77 people were killed.

Breivik had been planning the massacre for around nine years.

He said his actions were conducted to defend Europe from a Muslim invasion.

The killer is facing a life sentence of 21 years in jail. But it could be shortened if he is declared mentally unfit while committing the crime.

 
He is currently facing a life sentence of 21 years in jail.
Breivik will appear in court on April 16, 2012.
