Four Montrealers, amongst the missing in the Philippines

Four Montrealers are amongst the hundreds of thousands missing after Typhoon Haiyan passed through the Philippines late on Friday.

As reported by the Montreal Gazette on Sunday, four Filipino nationals living in the Cote-Des-Neiges district are feared missing after what has been described as the most powerful natural disaster on record hit the Asian island nation.

The four, all in their 60's made the trip to the village where they were born to begin building a a chapel last month. Their families have tried to get in contact with them, but to no avail.

It is believed that 10 000 people are believed to be dead in one Filipino city. The official death toll is expected to keep climbing as clean up crews clean up storm debris.

The island nation located near Indonesia where the South Indian and Pacific Oceans meet is in a disaster zone where earthquakes, torrential rains & tropical cyclones are common on a yearly basis.
