According to CBC, over 6,000 CÉGEP du View Montreal students began their three-day strike on Tuesday. Students hope that this strike will result in the withdrawal of all criminal charges and penalties facing students involved in last spring’s tuition hike issue.

Nearly 1,000 people voted on Monday at a generally assembly in support of the strike. Cegep will return to its normal activities on Friday.

Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, former spokesperson for the student organization known as CLASSE, has been encouraging students to continue picketing. Nadeau-Dubois has accumulated $74, 000 in order to help pay for his fines accumulated from the spring strike.

Neadeau-Dubois has now appealed his guilty verdict in order to avoid being the spokesperson for a group that can be found guilty for speaking out which may lead to large fines or even jail time.
