Over 5500 federal service employees have been notified that they might lose their jobs. The members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada received notices on Wednesday. The notice stated that they would be affected but will not necessarily be laid off. Some employees might be moved to other departments if there are vacancies.

A fire broke out at Lucille’s Oyster Dive in the early afternoon on Wednesday. The fire on Monkland Avenue was brought under control after ninety firefighters fought it for three hours. Ten people were forced out of their homes once the fire started in the restaurant’s kitchen.

People are being urged by the Montreal police to avoid driving on Thursday. Demonstrators that are protesting tuition increases are expected to jam the streets. It would be recommended to take public transit in order to get around or to just go by foot.

Even if you don't use your car on Thursday, detours will most likely occur since the route some of the rally organizers have provided might change.

The march comes two days after the provincial budget has confirmed their plan to increase tuition. However, police are optimistic that this march will not have the same end results as the anti-police brutality march.

The Concordia Student Union strike officially starts today. It will last from the fifteenth until the twenty-second of March.

 The dates were initially set from the twenty-second until the twenty-ninth but were changed during the general assembly. The dates were changed in order to present a more timely opposition to the provincial budget.

The general assembly took place on March seventh at four locations throughout Concordia’s Loyola and downtown campus. The final vote was determined by raising your hand....
