The epic struggle for Palestinian statehood is set for another chapter.

Palestinian authority president Mahmoud Abbas is in New York this week trying to sway US opinion towards his people’s cause.

Abbas is planning to ask the UN to back a bid for non-member observer status for Palestine.

Israel opposes the plans based on the promises made at the 1993 Oslo Accords.

Abbas is adamant for Palestinian statehood after recent hostilities between Israel and Gaza claimed at least 158 people’s lives.

The new popular kid in Quebec politics has joined forces with the one that could have been great.

Francois Legault’s Coalition Avenir Quebec now has four seats in the Quebec legislature as it becomes one with the Action democratique Quebec.  The center-right ADQ has been on the decline in recent years after an initially promising debut 1994.

The merger was agreed on in December. The ADQ had the final say and voted 70 percent in favour of the coalition.

The coalition party leads the ruling...

ZuckMark Zuckerberg will no longer be able to tell advertisers that you’re a gay non-practicing Buddhist who voted for Stephen Harper. The European commission is planning on stopping Facebook from using information about its users. The new directive will ban targeted advertising unless the user specifically allows it.

This plan may negatively affect Facebook’s earnings. That would be bad news as Facebook plans to float its stock on Wall Street.

The TV series Big Love may had its final episode, but real life polygamy is still on the air and on trial. The multi-wived faithful will soon learn whether their polygamous way of life is legal in Canada. A B.C. judge will rule Wednesday if Canada’s anti-polygamy laws are unconstitutional.

A lecture on the intersection of art and pornography will be given tonight in the EV building.

Professor Kelly Dennis will discuss the debate over Internet porn and its economies, its communities, its sexisms and its surveillance.

The lecture is part of Concodia's "Speaking of Photography" series.

Kelly Dennis teaches modern and contemporary art history and the history of photography at the University of Connecticut.

The lecture will take place at 6:30pm tonight in room EV-1.605.

A former Canadian soldier will begin a hunger strike this Friday in protest. Pascal Lacoste believes that he suffered Uranium poisoning while on duty in Bosnia in the 1990s.

He will protest outside the Minister of veteran's affairs office until he receives treatment.The 38-year-old claims that veteran's affairs has denied his requests for toxicology tests and decontamination treatments. He suffers from a degenerative neurological condition, infertility and chronic pain.

He has chose Friday because he expects his body to start to fail on Remembrance Day.
