George Zimmerman, the man who has fatally shot a teenager in Florida on February 26, might face a hate crime charge against him by the US Justice Department according to the CBC.
So far, the only clue prosecutors have is a racial slur Zimmerman whispered during one of his emergency calls following the shooting.
A person convicted of hate crime may be charged with a life in prison sentence if a death is involved.
As of yet, Zimmerman has not been charged with any crime and is claiming self-defence. He claims the teenager attacked him while he was walking back to his truck.
