CSU Live Debate on CJLO - Available for Download - 2009-03-23 17:00:42

For the first time in history, CJLO was host of the live, on-air, Concordia Student Union Presidential Debate.  This year, we had the exclusive; only one debate was held and it happened right in the CJLO Studios.  All six slates were invited, with their presidential candidates going head to head live on the air last Wednesday, March 18th.  Hosted by Karl Knox from Old Music and New Politics, this hour of radio is definitely something you should listen to before you cast your vote.

You can download the debate in it's entirety directly from the CJLO site (28mb).  (Right click then Save As... to download the file)

If you would like more information on the CSU Council and Executive elections, head on over to elections.csu.qc.ca.

And most importantly, be sure to vote at one of the many polling stations around Concordia, March 24th, 25th, and 26th.

Online feed temporarily disabled - 2008-12-10 12:13:53

We're currently in the process of upgrading our 'Broadcast Computer', which is the one that feeds the internet stream. As such, the online feed has been disabled temporarily.  Barring any major difficulties, it should be back up before the weekend.

This upgrade includes a new audio encoding card as well as new archival software.  It's allowing us to keep up with the CRTC requirements and will help us in offering a brand new way to listen to CJLO in the future.  More details on that will be available once all the kinks are worked out.

Of course, you can still listen to CJLO on-air in and around Montreal on 1690AM.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this upgrade may have caused.  Stay tuned to CJLO.com for more information as it comes available!

Every year, the College Music Journal (or CMJ for short) takes it upon themselves to gather representatives from both the College Radio and Independent Music Industries in New York City. This year, as in years past, CJLO has sent a veritable motley crew of DJs and executives to represent our mighty station. Now that the festival is over, head on over to the CJLO Magazine Section to check out the travel blog our DJs put together over the course of the conference. We'll also be updating it over the course of the week, so check back often!

Lucky for Montreal, Black Kids came to perform as part of the Pop Montreal Festival this past Saturday.

The Day the Radio Inspector Comes - 2008-08-26 15:34:24

If you're tuning into CJLO online today, you will probably notice that we're not playing our normal programming.  We're sorry to disappoint, but you will be happy to know that this is a very important step in our final CRTC / Industry Canada approval process.  Until this evening (Tuesday, August 26th,) we will be playing our test programme on both our internet stream and our over-the-air broadcast for testing purposes.  Once everything is cleared up, we will continue to play the test programme on 1690AM, but will return to our regularily scheduled shows online.

Be sure to check out CJLO.com for more updates.  For the curious, we also have an AM blog, full of the trials and tribulations of getting an AM station up on the air.  You have no excuse to be uninformed!

**** Note ****

Monday - 12:30pm: The radio inspector is sick today, so all of this should be postponed to tomorrow.  We will keep you informed as things are decided.

Tuesday - 11:15am: The inspector is feeling better and is at our site right now.  We are now live on the air with our test programme. Tune your radio to 1690AM and have a listen!

Tuesday - 2:30pm:  We can officially announce that the CJLO AM On-Air Testing Period has begun.  For information on the progression of our testing period, have a glance at our AM blog.
